'In the place of stillness, rises potential. From the place of potential, emerges possibility. Where there is possibility, there is choice. And where there is choice, there is freedom.' Gabriella Goddard

About

Melting Field

Claire Fearon is a successful contemporary British Painter whose widely acclaimed art works in acrylic on canvas have sold to private collections in the UK and throughout the world. She has exhibited nationally and internationally and has  been well known for her use of vibrant and often brave colour choices in her paintings.  However her new works mark a departure from her bold abstract paintings. For the first time in 11 years of working as an artist Claire is painting landscapes.

‘In the past when working on a painting I would intuitively chose colours at random, building layer upon layer, trying to keep my mind empty. I work relatively fast, attempting not to think too hard about the marks I made. It was a challenge to just let go and see where the painting took me rather than the other way round but I really enjoyed the process. Having worked in this way for over 11 years I found myself tiring of depicting the landscape of my mind in my work and I longed for a different vista. Until recently I had never had the desire to paint from life but in the last few months I have had the urge to step outside of my own imagination and depict the world around me.

I wanted to try something different, to push my creative boundaries and personal expectations. I have been drawn to painting very quite, empty and stark landscapes using predominately just a pallet knife. I love the feeling of space and stillness they evoke. I never thought it would be true but I do feel I can better express how I feel through these landscapes then I could via my abstract paintings.  Although I loved painting the abstract works and using such joyous and bright colours, I have found a deep peace in painting simple, uncomplicated and often deserted landscapes to such an extent that I can’t see myself returning to my own head for inspiration again any time soon’ Claire Fearon

In the gallery section of this site you can see the history of Claire’s work as the pages trace her development from present day to the simple circle paintings that mark the beginning of her career as an artist.

Circle Closeup

Orange on Claret

“In 1969 Yoko Ono presented a piece of conceptual art at the IsReal Gallery in New York. The instruction to the audience was to paint a circle within a rectangle. The material was open to choice suggestions included leather. silk and canvas. It is into this legacy that we dive when we try to read the paintings of Claire Fearon. They are at once obviously conceptual, playful and inserted into a history of seductive artworks.” Mark Waugh, Founder of International Curators Forum and chair of Spacex Gallery

“We feel proud and privileged to be the owners of two of Claire Fearon’s beautiful paintings. They never fails to make us smile. Claire has captured within it them the energy, warmth and beauty which we endeavour to bring into our everyday lives.” Jan Burgess and Brenden Hayes

“We are lucky to have a large Claire Fearon painting hanging in our bedroom. It has totally transformed what was a nondescript room. It seems to vibrate with vitality and power and exudes an intense energy. At other times the circle draws you in to find peace in its calm centre and the room feels almost temple like. We love it.” Chris and Isobel Smith

“At first it looks simplistically hip but there is so much more to it. As you approach the painting its depth and texture are quickly revealed. It seems to capture the room. It’s definitely more than a circle, that’s a fact. Everyone who enters my apartment is immediately drawn to it. It has become a part of my life and my space, I no longer feel alone when I am sitting in my apartment by myself. There is something about it I find really grounding. Thanks for creating it for me, I love it!” Michael Inzitari, NYC

“I find Claire Fearon’s painting a strong yet calming presence in my room. It has the ability to uplift or quieten my mind according to my needs. When I sit and look at it, it draws me in, inspiring a sense of peace.” Barbara Collins

“I have the painting opposite my bed so it’s the first thing I see when I wake. A vibrant contrast of pink and orange. It’s fantastic the way the light changes the painting throughout the day and captures the texture of the circle. It seems to give off heat and almost hums with energy. I love it!” Sian Webber

“Claire Fearon’s painting has rapidly become one of the family. Its character is ever changing – be it joyful, moody, passionate or contemplative. No two times has it ever looked the same as the subtleties of light and angle reveal the many hidden depths of its personality.” Dennis Kesler

Evolution 3

“While on holiday in Brighton this year, we walked past a gallery with a painting that we instantly fell in love in with.Although we have similar taste, we generally have a hard time actually picking out something that both of us agree on — not so with the painting as it was bright orange with a dark red background. We both have a thing for the color orange and had been looking in vein for a suitable painting for our San Francisco loft that we had been thinking about renovating. We bought Claire’s painting and were delighted to have it arrive at our home just days after we returned from our trip. It now enjoys prominent wall space in our living room and we are very pleased with the aesthetic it brings. We’ve even begun to buy new furniture to accent the painting — which is the reverse of what people usually do!” Alvin Richards, San Francisco

“The addition of Claire’s circle to our home has brought with it a warmth and energy we didn’t realise was previously lacking. Now the focal point of ourliving room, it is commented on by all who visit and is deeply loved by those who live here. We can not imagine life without it.” Allison Perry

“When I look at my painting I am able to leave the solidity of where I stand. I gravitate to a calmer place within myself. Feeling physically lighter, a facial beam occurs, not one which can be seen but can be felt through my mind, heart and soul….happiness.” Matt Bartsch

Little Gem 2009

Good God what a day. I have been updating and imputting all the content on this, my new site (whilst also having a birthday celebration with family and friends) all day. My eyes hurt, my head hurts but I am so pleased with the results. I am thinking the site looks great and I am hoping you will too. I had to get it all up and running as I am off on Wednesday for NYC for the opening party for a group exhibition I am showing in called Artists at Hone and Abroad at the Broadway Gallery, on Broadway in SOHO. Having spent many years living in NYC I always love any opportunity to return and this time I am really excited to be taking my 11 year old son Sam with me. He has been attending private view parties with me since he was a babe in arms and he can’t believe his luck that he’s getting to fly to the Big Apple for this one. He deserves it though, he is always a great help when I am working. I always value his opinion he has a keen eye and unlike my husband who is totally colour blind (Him “Darling I love that green bit in that corner” Me ‘That’s not green it’s red!’) he really seems to understand colour and form.

So I must get some sleep and start the onslaught of packing and panic. Feel free to comment on any of my posts or paintings.

Until next time…..

Aura-Soma is a tool for advancemnt that is beautiful in its simplicity. We are all drawn to certain colours. The colours you choose help to reveal who you really are, as every colour and bottle combination within the Aura-Soma system has a specific meaning. This makes the Equilibrium bottles powerful tools for transformation.

By choosing just four bottles, they tell a practitioner all about your life’s path, your personality, what drives you and what’s holding you back. They also show the gifts and talents you have and how you can utilise these to transform situations in your life and help you move forward with confidence.

Claire has spent the past few years working successfully with adults and children alike helping bring about great change and healing via the Aura-Soma system. She also specialises working with all types of creatives. ‘Having seen how much working with the bottles has not only changed but revolutionised my own work, having gotten stuck painting the large circles, to afraid to try something new due to their success. I now love helping other creative people break through blocks and push their work and themselves to new limits” Claire Fearon

Claire provides consultations from her beautiful home in the village of Henfield in the Sussex downs and from Aloka, the Aura-Soma centre in Brighton.

“It was the first time I’d been introduced to Aura-Soma and it turned out to be a remarkable and wonderfully insightful experience. It was really helpful, immediate and what’s more totally inspiring. As an artist I’ve loved using loads of colour in my paintings, but this time it was a delight to be able to use it as a means for transformation. Since working with Claire I have been back in the studio producing my best work ever and better still I’m much more positive about so many other aspects of my life. I would strongly recommend seeing her to artists or anyone working in a creative field who would like to deepen their understanding of themselves and their work.” Christopher Gilvan Cartwright, Brighton
