Choosing an Oracle Card for Your Year Ahead
If there’s one thing this year has shown me, it’s that not knowing what comes next isn’t a problem to fix.
At the time, I didn’t fully understand what that word would come to mean. I imagined it might speak to ease, creativity, or a gentle unfolding. Instead, it became an invitation to loosen my grip on plans, expectations, and control, and to listen more closely to what life was asking of me. Flow, I’ve learned, isn’t about drifting or passivity. It’s about adapting in real time, meeting circumstances I hadn’t planned for without resistance and finding meaning and possibility even in situations I never expected to encounter.
Just a few days ago, as the year was drawing to a close, I returned to the same deck and asked again for a guiding card for 2026. I drew Flow once more. Of course I did.
It actually felt quietly affirming. Not dramatic, not loud. Simply a reminder that this way of living, and trusting my inner compass, is something I’m being invited to deepen and stay with.
One of the most important shifts this year has been releasing the pull of what I should do, and instead asking a gentler, truer question: what do I truly want, and what do I truly need? That small shift has changed everything. It has changed my choices, clarified my priorities, and allowed me to live with more honesty and self-trust. To be honest, it feels liberating.
Alongside this, I’ve become much more aware of how easily we stay focused on what we’re meant to be creating next, without fully recognising what’s already here. I can see now how much time I’ve spent moving forward, building, offering, running workshops, supporting others, without really stopping to inhabit the life I once longed for and have now created. It's so easy to rush on in the momentum of doing.
This year has asked me to stop chasing the next version of myself, and to actually stand inside the one I’m already living. To notice where I am, rather than where I think I should be heading. It’s been a reminder that we’re constantly encouraged to strive, improve, and reach for more, often shaped by comparison and noise, especially through social media. But there is something powerful in pausing long enough to recognise what we’ve built, to enjoy it, and to let it be enough, even for a moment.
I don’t know what comes next, and for the first time, that doesn’t feel like a problem to solve. This year has shown me that there is wisdom in pausing, appreciating where you are and in letting experiences fully land, then allowing life to take its own shape.
I am excited to let 2026 simply unfold. It's a new approach to the year ahead for me, but after the year I have just lived through, I know it works and is exactly what I need.
If you work with oracle cards, you might like to choose a single card for the year ahead, just as a touchstone rather than a prediction. Something to return to when things feel unclear, or when you need a reminder of the deeper theme you’re working with. It can be surprisingly insightful to notice how that one word or image continues to reveal itself as the year unfolds.
And if you don’t, perhaps the invitation is simply to listen a little more closely to yourself as the year turns.
I also run Oracle Card workshops and offer one-to-one Oracle Card consultations for those who feel drawn to work more deeply in this way. If you’d like to know more about me and my work, you can find details here.
